We have an opening for a Traffic Signals Engineer. This role can be based in Ontario, Alberta or Manitoba . Responsibilities :
- Client relationship building and management including, taking part in business development activities, proposal preparation, organizing staff resources, establishing project budgets and schedules, etc.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members (Engineers, Architects, Designers, and Project Managers) in the design and specification development of electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team.
- Lead and Contribute to the successful design, production, coordination, and management of electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.
- Develop designs for street lighting and traffic signal infrastructure for land development, municipal, and provincial projects.
- Review photometric models in accordance with IES RP-8 and local standards, using AGi32.
- Prepare and review traffic signal and street lighting deliverables such as single line diagrams, wiring schematics, timing sheets, photometric layouts, grounding details, etc.
- Prepare and review traffic signal designs for intersections including modifications to existing signals and new installations.
- Prepare technical reports, tender documentation, and field support (including commissioning / site inspection).
- Ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g. drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices.
- Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA / QC programs.
- Ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high-quality including engineering stamped drawings and preparing final reports.
- Direct and mentor junior staff as required.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in traffic engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic signal design and operations.
- Eng. or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer is required.
- Must have proven experience in the electrical design of municipal roadway lighting, and traffic signal systems.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) designation would be an asset.
- International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification would be an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code.
- Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and AGi32 lighting design software.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
A few qualifications that would help you succeed :
- Experience performing site inspections, construction supervision, and contract administration.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering various projects with large size and scope.
- Strong interpersonal communications skills applicable both internally with project delivery staff as well as externally with project partners (clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities).
