Job description

Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Private Client Advice Claims; the Claims Specialist is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and timely resolution of high net worth clients' claims. Using expert knowledge, handling complex, high-profile claims that may involve litigation and environmental issues. The role requires meeting clients/witnesses to obtain statements and negotiating claims on-site on behalf of TD Insurance. This position aims to deliver a legendary customer experience with high-quality, personalized service for a high net worth client segment. Collaboration with internal and external partners is essential to ensure claims are managed and resolved effectively, while mitigating risks and escalations, prioritizing speed and accuracy.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Handling complex, high-risk claims that may take over a year to resolve.
  2. Applying claims management principles to control costs and leakage.
  3. Identifying and managing potential fraudulent claims.
  4. Working with claim management vendors to maintain service standards.
  5. Serving as a subject matter expert to enhance knowledge within claims.
  6. Supporting accurate and timely completion of business processes.
  7. Protecting organizational interests by managing risks and escalating high-risk activities.
  8. Ensuring documentation accurately reflects client/business intentions and complies with regulations.
  9. Managing relationships across business lines and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  10. Performing due diligence to support transaction accuracy.
  11. Staying informed of emerging issues, trends, and regulatory changes.
  12. Maintaining a risk-aware culture supported by effective processes.
  13. Minimizing operational and regulatory risks through compliance.
  14. Participating as a team member, promoting a positive work environment, and communicating effectively.
  15. Providing thought leadership and sharing industry knowledge.
  16. Keeping updated on industry trends and enhancing personal skills.
  17. Participating in performance management and cross-training.
  18. Sharing project updates and relevant information.
  19. Mentoring team members and sharing best practices.
  20. Building productive relationships with internal/external partners.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior client service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong typing and computer skills.
  • 5-7 years of insurance claims experience, primarily in property claims.
  • Experience with complex and large loss insurance claims.
  • Liability claims experience is preferred.
  • Experience in high net worth market segment is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR for field roles.
  • Travel within Greater Montreal and other parts of Quebec as needed.
  • CIP / FCIP designation is an asset.
  • AMF claims adjusting license required for Quebec.
  • Proficient bilingualism in English and French required.
