Summary
Reporting to the Site Leader and Sanitation Leader, as the Site Sanitation Leader you will provide hands-on leadership to the Sanitation Team on all shifts at your own site to ensure all related tasks are performed properly. This includes cleanliness of the plant and external premises, all equipment, machinery and utensils in the production process. You will be responsible to ensure all your Team Leaders and Team members follow FGF’s food safety guidelines while completing their work.

Primary Responsibilities
- Leads by example and fosters an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among Team Members
- Conduct pre-shift huddles and provides feedback for Team Members
- Leads, coaches, mentors and trains Sanitation Team Leaders
- Coordinates all sanitation activities to accomplish sanitation practices according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP’s)
- Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation records
- Leads sanitation personnel onsite and ensures daily requirements/procedures are carried out
- Conducts SWAP test as necessary
- Collects regular water samples, checks PH levels and maintains accurate records
- Follows GMP’s, Food and Health and Safety Regulations
- Performs all job responsibilities under the strictest guidelines of the BRC food safety standards
- Ensures all chemicals used in the cleaning process are mixed with a proper solution according to the suppliers’ specifications
- Ensures Health & Safety and Food Safety principles are followed and adhered to
- Ensures Sanitation Team members are adequately trained and works with contractor or internal supporting groups to resolve training deficiencies
- Keeps detailed records and follows up on all sanitation-related activities and issues, such as inspections, violations, deficiencies, and corrective actions
- Maintains sanitation chemical inventory
- Works with QA to maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule as per FGF’s guidelines, ensuring all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tasks are performed and documented
- Participates in the visual pre-op inspection at the end of the cleaning process in order to ensure that the lines meet the required standards and follows up on identified deficiencies in a timely manner
- Participates in self-inspections and follows up on actions
- Provides feedback on team member and/or team performance to the Corporate Sanitation Leader
- Creates a continuous improvement (Lean/Kaizen/5S) environment by improving products, service, and processes with the objective to reduce waste, improve cleaning effectiveness within the area while striving for efficiency and profitability within Sanitation
- Locks out, dismantles, cleans and sanitizes production equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned by Corporate Sanitation Leader/VP Sanitation
- Assures proper training is provided to the TMs and maintains appropriate training records
- Improves sanitation process to comply with city guidelines to manage the waste water system
- Ensures fair workplace environment to all team members
Required Experience:
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience working in a sanitation environment (food/bakery experience is desirable) with a proven track record of prior leadership experience
- Must be a demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at leading and motivating a team to meet demands established by the schedule
- Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities
- Accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to detect the presence of a sanitation issue
- Scissor Lift license is an asset
- Familiar with internal and external inspections
- Ability to manage difficult people
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
- Working knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, BRC & O.H.S.A required
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Post-secondary education an asset
- Able to support multiple facilities in the GTA, including North York, Vaughan, Brampton, Mississauga
