Job description

Job Summary:

The Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) is seeking an assistant director to support the Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub. The purpose of the AI hub at the Wisconsin School of Business is to serve as the focal point for all AI-related activities at the WSB. It supports four primary functions: research support, industry connections, hosting industry and academic events for students, and supporting AI-related communications at the WSB. In this administrative role, the assistant director will work closely with the AI hub director to support these functions.

The assistant director will design, develop, and execute processes related to faculty support for AI research, AI event planning for students, communications, website management, and an AI conference. They will report to the AI hub director and collaborate with internal (students, staff, faculty) and external stakeholders (industry, alumni).

Principal duties:
  1. Support research: Provide administrative support for UW-Madison undergraduate and graduate students supporting faculty research.
  2. Support industry connections: Assist in fostering industry partnerships for student education and faculty research.
  3. Manage events: Support faculty and industry speaker events in AI and organize an AI conference.
  4. Manage communications: Assist in AI-related communications at WSB.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with planning and operations to advance program goals.
  • Engage in strategic planning to support stakeholder needs.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement operational processes.
  • Assist with budget goal setting and management.
  • Develop processes and procedures for improvement.
  • Supervise at least 2 FTE employees, including hiring, performance management, and discipline.
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and standards.

Education:

Required: Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications:

Required: 3 years of professional experience

Preferred: Experience with business professionals, excellent communication skills, event/project management, and experience in faculty support, marketing, communications, budgeting, or record keeping.

Work Type:

Full Time (100%). Some work may be remote or onsite.

Salary:

Minimum $75,000 annually, depending on qualifications. Benefits include vacation, holidays, insurance, and retirement.
