Position Description

Elevation is a church in Waterloo, Ontario. We have recently experienced a significant transition as a community, taking time to discern our identity and future direction. Our work of discernment is outlined in the following documents: Our Values, Vision and Mission; Our 2SLGBTQ+ Commitments; Our Theological Framework (Draft).

We are seeking to build our staff team with the hiring of a Co-Lead Pastor. This permanent position reports to the Board of Directors and collaborates closely with our current Co-Lead Pastor within our shared leadership model.

Responsibilities of the Co-Lead Pastor

The following areas are shared responsibilities between the two Co-Lead Pastors:

  1. Faith Formation (40%)
    • Collaborate with the Teaching Team to develop the teaching calendar and themes, participating as a member of the team.
    • Design and lead worship gatherings that are inclusive and reflect our community's values and beliefs.
    • Create and invite meaningful liturgical elements, including prayers, readings, and artistic components to enhance worship and foster connection and reverence.
    • Provide pastoral care, offering guidance, prayer, and spiritual encouragement.
    • Mentor and support Children & Youth Ministry Coordinators.
    • Create opportunities for intergenerational faith formation.
  2. Leadership Development (25%)
    • Support and direct staff and ministry team leads collaboratively.
    • Foster growth within the leadership community.
    • Participate as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors.
  3. Networking & Learning (5%)
    • Maintain connections with aligned denominations and networks.
    • Pursue ongoing personal and professional development.
    • Engage in self-reflection and seek feedback for growth.

The specific responsibility of this individual Co-Lead Pastor is:

Community Development: Internal (30%)
  • Support and guide Neighbours Groups, ministry teams, and community care teams.
  • Support mid-week groups and seasonal gatherings.
  • Assist the Children’s Ministry Coordinator with curriculum development for Kids Quest classrooms.

Hours of Work: 30 hours/week

Compensation: $45,000 - $52,000 (based on experience and skills)
Vacation & Benefits: 15 days paid vacation, comprehensive health, dental, life insurance, and long-term disability after 3 months of a 6-month probation.
