Position Overview

Parkland County has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Project Engineer II in the Engineering Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Capital Construction, the Project Engineer II is responsible for project management and coordinating capital and special projects in water and wastewater utilities, stormwater, and transportation. The role involves conducting technical research, producing reports, and providing design support. The candidate should have expertise in Engineering, Public Works, and Road Maintenance & Drainage activities, including project administration, contract management, and asset management. The position also involves assisting with the corporate-wide asset inventory of County assets. Strong project management, organizational, technical, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environment, Water Resources, or related field. Formal training in Project or Construction Management is an asset.
  • Eligibility for registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is required. Candidates with a C.E.T. designation or working towards a P.Eng. will be considered at a developmental level.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project management of infrastructure projects, with design drafting experience.
  • Knowledge of municipal transit operations and asset management is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Practical knowledge of utility installation, relocation, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; database and AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Compensation and Benefits

The total rewards package includes a starting salary of $99,500 to $107,600, based on education and experience, with options for developmental level candidates at a lower range.
