PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide fundamental Engineering principles and methods to provide forensic structural and building damage assessments to determine the origin and cause of failure / damage for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and sites. Further using recognized design principles complete design of structural restoration and repair works including reconstruction design (including building permits) following a fire, and foundation underpinning related to oil spill remediation under a building, snow load and or roof failures, and cost estimations through repair scope development.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university and a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of the posted position. Advanced degrees preferred.
Experience
Ten (10) + years of engineering experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required with some introduction to in the forensic sciences discipline. Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, procedures, general terms, conditions, nomenclature, etc. associated with the insurance industry and assigned area of engineering specialty. Forensic Engineering investigation experience is a plus. Documented experience in structural design of wood, steel and reinforced concrete.
Skills & Knowledge
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Travel, at least, 30-40% of the time. Can be local or across provincial boundaries. Exposure to all elements of the weather. Walking, climbing, etc., as required. Occasional lifting, up to 50 pounds, as required. 40-60% work in field environment.
