We currently have a Fulltime, permanent role as a Research Director - Data Center Networks with our global Fortune 100 ICT client at their Toronto or Waterloo office. The role is open to international sponsorship from abroad (US, Europe, Asia).

In this role you will spearhead the research of a Lab that focuses on advanced Data Center Network technologies. You will work with global and local teams to plan and design next generation tech.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the technical planning in the computing network and cloud network domains, focusing on innovation in computing, cloud, or storage domains, especially on high-performance data exchange and network-computing-storage co-design.
- Responsible for planning the technical routes and incubating breakthrough innovations that help the company build technical competitiveness.
- Responsible for industrial and academic technological insights, identifying innovation opportunities, promoting the acceptance of innovative technologies within the company, and advocating for the company's technology investment and layout.
- Collaborate with experts and HiSilicon/computing/cloud/storage product lines to promote the implementation of innovative technologies into commercial products.
Job requirements
What you'll bring to the team:
- PhD in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Software Engineering or related field.
- Experience in designing, developing, and researching cloud network architecture, computer architecture, or high-performance computing platforms.
- Understanding of computing/cloud systems and communication networks, with experience in leading large-scale R&D projects in related fields.
- Understanding of operating systems, communication protocol stacks, and hardware interconnection architecture.
- Familiarity with the latest progress in the industry and academia; strong curiosity, insight ability, and sense of direction about new technologies; good at exploring large-granularity innovation opportunities.
- Understanding of computing architecture, AI, cloud computing, storage, or related technical directions. Familiar with one or two of the sub-domains above, and have cross-domain background knowledge.
- Theoretical knowledge about one of the accelerators, such as NPU, GPU, or DPU as an asset.
