Jardeg is currently seeking a Pipefitter Journeyperson to join the SUNCOR Firebag maintenance team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a permanent position on a 14 days on, 14 days off shift schedule.

Role Description: Steamfitters lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems that carry water, steam, chemicals, or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating, and other processes. They also remove and replace worn components, perform general maintenance, and may work during plant shutdowns.

Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the functional operation of various piping system components by measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and bending pipes, valves, and fittings.
  2. Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair pressurized piping systems.
  3. Hydrotest and install fabricated pipe spools within structural steel modular assemblies, adding supports as required.
  4. Use testing equipment to check for leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  5. Maintain tools, work area, and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  6. Read and interpret construction fabrication drawings and specifications provided by clients and the company.
  7. Update drawings to an as-built condition (red-line updates).
  8. Follow client policies and procedures, including ISO 9001-2000 requirements.
  9. Must be able to climb and work at heights.
  10. Communicate effectively in English, especially when using radio contact for plant evacuation or medical emergencies.

  1. CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  2. Energy Safety Canada Fall Protection
  3. Energy Safety Canada Confined Space Entry & Monitor
  4. Energy Safety Canada Elevated Work Platform/Aerial Work Platform
  5. Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Training certification
  6. WHMIS 2015
  7. Overhead Crane certification
  8. Valid Full Class 5 Driver’s License
  9. Journeyperson Ticket
