Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Regional Manager (or Designate), the incumbent is responsible for:

  1. Overseeing the daily clinical service delivery and environmental/operational issues in a designated service area to ensure optimum client care in a safe therapeutic environment.
  2. Providing guidance to clinical dietitians and support staff within the designated service area through leadership, mentoring, education, evaluation, and research.
  3. Contributing to the delivery of quality clinical nutrition services by examining, developing, refining, and evaluating the body of knowledge and clinical practices and assisting in program planning and development.
  4. Completion of performance appraisals and recruitment, soliciting input where appropriate, as well as coordinating clinical work schedules, caseloads, and service rotations.
  5. Monitoring and maintaining documents regarding staff performance, including attendance management and completed performance appraisals.
  6. Maintaining a clinical caseload involving assessment, interventions, and follow-up within established standards of care.
Experience
  • A minimum of three years recent, relevant clinical nutrition experience.
  • Experience in program planning, development, and evaluation required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetics, or related area from an accredited Canadian university program or equivalent if internationally educated.
  • Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program or equivalent, accredited by the certifying body.
SPECIAL TRAINING
  • Working knowledge of healthcare administration and systems, and implications for clinical nutrition.
  • Involvement in education and research required.
  • Completion of coursework and attendance at workshops or seminars in administration required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
  • Membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC) required.
  • CPR training in accordance with employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities in an interdisciplinary team environment.

  • Knowledge of regulations and scope of practice documents for clinical nutrition.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team-building, and communication skills.
  • Experience in adult education and research processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of financial report systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Work under time constraints and potential exposure to infectious diseases, blood, body fluids, toxins, noise, allergens, and stress.
  • Ability to handle aggressive or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
  • Travel to meetings (on-site and off-site).
  • Occasional evening, weekend, or extended hours work may be required.
