General Machine Operator

Reporting directly to the Production Manager on all matters. The General Machine Operator operates glass equipment (automatic and manual) and moves material/product to achieve the required output. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
Years of Experience
  1. Previous experience in the manufacturing or glass window wall industry is an asset
Working Conditions
  1. Factory plant environment
  2. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of and adherence to basic safety procedures
  3. Work environment requires wearing PPE; safety footwear, safety glasses, and hearing protection
  4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  5. Promote health and safety in the plant
  6. Flexible to work approved overtime as required
Junior Level
  1. Good communication skills
  2. Have a high level of social interaction while working with other production staff and supervisors
  3. Ability to work independently and as part of a team as required
  4. Punctual and reliable
  5. Strong attention to detail and ability to read a tape measure
Job Specific Duties
  1. Operate equipment safely in accordance with relevant legislation and plant policies, procedures, and standards
  2. Conduct regular quality audits on product and process to ensure compliance with internal and customer quality specifications
  3. Ensure daily preventative maintenance activities are completed as per schedule
  4. Set-up, operate, and adjust machine or equipment as per the production schedule
  5. Record productivity, scrap, and downtime and report to supervisor daily
  6. Ensure work area is clean and organized and free from obstructions
  7. Provide assistance and training to junior operators as required
  8. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times
  9. Any other duties assigned by the Plant Manager
