Communications / Naval Combat Systems Engineer

Join Thales as a Communications / Naval Combat Systems Engineer supporting the Royal Canadian Navy's Non-Combatant In-Service Support Programs.

This role is based in Victoria / Halifax with a hybrid work arrangement.

Position Summary

Thales Canada seeks a Communications / Naval Combat Systems Engineer to provide engineering support for Naval Combat Systems, including navigation, communications, command and control, data processing, sensor, and weapons systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and review technical documentation related to combat systems.
• Manage lifecycle and material functions, including obsolescence and disposal.
• Support resolution of equipment deficiencies and conduct root cause analyses.
• Prepare design change documentation and analyze configuration requirements.
• Create work scopes, cost estimates, and develop engineering plans and procedures.
• Maintain software configuration documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer, Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
• Eligible for Professional Engineer registration in Nova Scotia, Ontario, or British Columbia.
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Systems Engineer with Naval/Marine Communications or Navigation Systems within the last 10 years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the Royal Canadian Navy as a Naval Combat Systems Engineering Officer.
• Experience in marine in-service support and defense contracts.
• Project management experience and bilingual in French and English.

Physical and Position Requirements

• Office work with occasional dockyard and onboard ship visits.
• May involve inspections requiring physical activity.
• Hybrid schedule, with travel as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The total compensation ranges from CAD 86,138.88 to CAD 154,432.71 annually, including salary and bonuses. Thales offers comprehensive benefits, retirement plans, paid leave, and employee discounts.
