Job Description

Candidates are invited to apply for the position detailed below at Extendicare Michener Hill, a continuing care facility located in Red Deer, Alberta. This facility is home to 220 Continuing Care beds and 60 Designated Assisted Living Beds.

Reporting to: Director of Care

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Care, the HCA will:

  1. Provide personal assistance and support services for residents.
  2. Provide essential and important daily living support and comfort to residents including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and all other ADLs.
  3. Communicate resident care needs, observations, and concerns to professional staff.
  4. Be involved in the orientation and mentorship of new HCA staff and students.
  5. Interact with residents/families and other team members regarding any care needs.
  6. Work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Health Care Aide Certification or subsequent equivalency required (LPN students who have completed first year, BScN students who have completed second year).
  2. Experience working within a long-term care setting is an asset.
  3. Strong organization, time management, and communication skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the team.
  5. Strong communication skills - ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
