Job description

RED Mountain Resort is hiring for a Director, Construction and Capital Projects. The Director is responsible for reliable oversight and management of all (mall and large) capital projects and construction related activity across RED Resort to successfully deliver a portfolio of resort master-planned developments. The position exists to ensure all projects are delivered in a timely and profitable manner with a high level of safety and quality.

The wage rate for this position will be $85,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Construction
  1. Developing operating frameworks, policies, processes and reporting requirements for construction and project delivery to achieve program goals.
  2. Overseeing all bid packaged and processes - reviewing pricing, tendering consultant/construction contracts.
  3. Budget and scheduling development/management to ensure the best value and efficiency.
  4. Evaluating project plans and assisting in drawing specification preparation, design coordination and cost estimates.
Project Management
  1. Managing and facilitating general construction activities of the Contractor.
  2. Monitoring and reviewing contractor’s work to ensure the project is delivered with project quality standards and in alignment with the design, budget and schedule on time and on budget.
  3. Identifying project performance gaps from a technical perspective and revising plans, priorities and funding requirements as conditions change and negotiating resolutions.
  4. Updating ownership and other key stakeholders.
  5. Managing and administering all change orders.
  6. Managing and tracking project permit applications.
  7. Processing draw requests and other on-site activities.
  8. Attending all owner and contractor meetings and managing the project close out.
Post-Construction
  1. Completing testing and commissioning, warranties, deficiencies rectification, and obtaining operations and maintenance documentation.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education
  1. Completion of Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Urban Planning or Construction disciplines.
  2. Advanced proficiency with MS Office including MS Excel and Word, Projects.
Experience
  1. A demonstrated track record with 10+ years in a related role.
  2. Proven ability to deliver successful and complex large-scale projects on-time and within budget.
  3. Innate ability to manage in-house construction teams, general contractors, architects, engineers and other consultants.
  4. Diverse construction project management experience.
  5. Knowledge of BC Building Code and best practices for construction management.
  6. Experience with tender process, budgets, estimates, construction schedules, progress and monthly reports and managing all subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality control, cost control and maintaining schedules.
