RED Mountain Resort is hiring for a Director, Construction and Capital Projects. The Director is responsible for reliable oversight and management of all (mall and large) capital projects and construction related activity across RED Resort to successfully deliver a portfolio of resort master-planned developments. The position exists to ensure all projects are delivered in a timely and profitable manner with a high level of safety and quality.
The wage rate for this position will be $85,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Construction
- Developing operating frameworks, policies, processes and reporting requirements for construction and project delivery to achieve program goals.
- Overseeing all bid packaged and processes - reviewing pricing, tendering consultant/construction contracts.
- Budget and scheduling development/management to ensure the best value and efficiency.
- Evaluating project plans and assisting in drawing specification preparation, design coordination and cost estimates.
Project Management
- Managing and facilitating general construction activities of the Contractor.
- Monitoring and reviewing contractor’s work to ensure the project is delivered with project quality standards and in alignment with the design, budget and schedule on time and on budget.
- Identifying project performance gaps from a technical perspective and revising plans, priorities and funding requirements as conditions change and negotiating resolutions.
- Updating ownership and other key stakeholders.
- Managing and administering all change orders.
- Managing and tracking project permit applications.
- Processing draw requests and other on-site activities.
- Attending all owner and contractor meetings and managing the project close out.
Post-Construction
- Completing testing and commissioning, warranties, deficiencies rectification, and obtaining operations and maintenance documentation.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education
- Completion of Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Urban Planning or Construction disciplines.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office including MS Excel and Word, Projects.
Experience
- A demonstrated track record with 10+ years in a related role.
- Proven ability to deliver successful and complex large-scale projects on-time and within budget.
- Innate ability to manage in-house construction teams, general contractors, architects, engineers and other consultants.
- Diverse construction project management experience.
- Knowledge of BC Building Code and best practices for construction management.
- Experience with tender process, budgets, estimates, construction schedules, progress and monthly reports and managing all subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality control, cost control and maintaining schedules.
