Job Type: Permanent Full Time (35 hours/week)

Reports To: Business Operations Manager

Starting Salary: $56,292.60 (commensurate with experience)

About the Role

The Mnogin Greenhouse Supervisor & Head Grower will oversee a year-round indoor greenhouse producing fresh lettuce, leafy greens, and herbs for the local community and commercial clients. The role involves leading two full-time employees (Systems Operators) and ensuring all operational tasks are completed to deliver high-quality products.

The ideal candidate will have experience supervising controlled environment production facilities.

About Mnogin Greenhouse

Mnogin, meaning 'Grow Well' in Nbisiing Nishnaabemwin, is dedicated to improving food security for NFN members by developing year-round food production capabilities. The greenhouse comprises three containerized growing units and one packing unit, yielding up to 10,000 pounds of produce annually.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain greenhouse health and equipment, ensuring timely maintenance.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, including food safety and pest management.
  • Assist in harvesting, cleaning, and packaging produce.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and horticultural issues.
  • Manage inventory to meet community and customer demands.
  • Promote food production and healthy eating at community events.
  • Coach and support Systems Operators in good agricultural practices and training.
  • Keep operational records related to sales, harvests, and trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
  • Respect for Indigenous culture and willingness to learn Ojibway.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in horticulture or controlled environment operations.
  • Certificate or degree in agriculture, horticulture, or related field.
  • Proven teamwork skills and effective communication.
  • Comfort with technology (Google & Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle unforeseen challenges.
  • Self-motivated with project management skills.
  • Strong leadership and relationship management skills.
  • Legal right to work in Canada, valid driver's license, and access to reliable transportation.
Assets
