Direct Nursing Service is hiring for Health Care Assistants

Shifts vary, FT and PT, casual are available

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for Health Care Assistants to join our Casa Mia Care team in Vancouver, B.C.

PRIMARY DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide holistic personal, emotional, and psychosocial care to residents.
  2. Provide personal hygiene, oral care, skincare, toileting, bathing, feeding, dressing, and grooming.
  3. Use a variety of specialized equipment such as electric beds, mechanical lifts, tubs, and wheelchairs.
  4. Actively participate in facility meetings and education programs.
  5. Assist in admission, discharge, and transfer of residents.
  6. Be fluent in verbal, written, and electronic communication in English.
  7. Ensure the highest resident safety and well-being.
  8. Monitor, report, and document changes in resident’s health status.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an approved Care Aide, RCA, Nursing assistant, or PSW program.
  • Registered and in good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry.
  • Current First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Safe Certificates.
  • Must be in good health and be physically able to perform all aspects of the position.
  • Previous experience in Long Term Care is preferred.
  • COVID-19 Immunization Certificate.

Casa Mia is a heritage estate property located along Vancouver’s Southwest Marine Drive. This heritage home offers 90 long-term care beds, consisting of primarily single occupancy rooms, many with expansive views over the Fraser River. Casa Mia is a storied 1930’s mansion boasting views of gorgeous grounds, the Fraser River, Georgia Straight, and the mountains of Vancouver Island. With large windows, homelike furnishings, and compassionate caregivers, our residents are well taken care of. This estate home features three stories with a grand dining area, ballroom, recreation areas, and large outdoor patios on each floor. The desirable location and newly built home provide our clients with a modern care environment with a throwback to Vancouver’s heritage. Casa Mia works in collaboration with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority to offer funded beds but also has 32 private pay rooms available.
