Position Summary

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Electrical Apprentice Technician (1st year) is responsible for performing general electrical duties on a project or service site. This includes electronic and mechanical repairs, both in-house and on-site, and commissioning equipment as assigned.

What will you be doing?
  • Performing (in training) electrical, electronic, and mechanical repairs, including on-site and in-house repairs of equipment and technology, in compliance with UFA/BarW, insurance, and government regulations
  • Coordinating (in training) customer relations by managing calls efficiently to improve service and reduce costs, including planning for necessary tools and equipment
  • Completing all required documentation accurately and promptly
  • Developing strong technical knowledge of assigned equipment through on-the-job training and programs
  • Following safety practices in accordance with Health and Safety policies
  • Reading, understanding, and complying with UFA/BarW and client policies, SOPs, and safety practices
Are you qualified?
  • High school diploma; registered with Alberta AIT as an Indentured Electrical Apprentice; must participate and be certified in CPCA PM-Training
  • Developing knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and petroleum troubleshooting
  • Willing to pursue continuing education and apprenticeship training
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good organizational, time management, and customer service skills; ability to manage multiple requests
  • Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, physical strength, manual dexterity, and ability to work at heights
  • Ability to interpret drawings and electrical codes; familiarity with computerized machinery and hand tools
  • Willingness to obtain OEM certifications and industry-specific training
  • Valid Class 5 license; ability to work away overnight and respond to 24/7 service calls
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; candidates must pass a drug and alcohol screening
