Description:

Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 3H8) invites applications for a full-time Forensic Pathologist position to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of pathologists providing province-wide services for medico-legal autopsies (adult and pediatric) in a medical examiner system, as well as family-consented hospital-based autopsies as required. The total autopsy load for the province is approximately 2000 cases per year, split amongst nine forensic pathologists. The Forensic/Autopsy pathologists are expected to participate in departmental academic activities and are responsible for training pathology residents from the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, as well as providing instruction to allied health professionals. Toxicology and histology services are performed in house and access to consultation with staff from the Pathology Department is available. Three full-time neuropathologists provide regular neuropathology services and consultation, and Forensic Odontologists and an Anthropologist are also available. The successful applicant may be eligible to apply for an appointment with the Department of Pathology, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a medical degree, certification in either Anatomical or General Pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to sit for the Canadian Royal College examination in Forensic Pathology and be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.


Compensation:

Shared Health also provides a competitive compensation package (annual salary scales of Step 1 - $401,020.36/year, and Step 2- $445,748.16/year), a benefits plan that includes health & dental and annual vacation of 27 days.
