The Manager, People leads the People side of the People & Talent Operations team. This position embodies NorQuest’s values of ‘finding ways forward’ and ‘we is greater than they’. Reporting to the Director, People and Talent Operations, the Manager, People is a key member of the People & Culture Leadership team. They play a vital role in developing and executing divisional strategies that improve employee experiences and organizational results. This role oversees two teams of HR professionals, including Talent Acquisition specialists and Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs), who support various HR functions such as talent acquisition, workforce planning, organizational design, performance management, labor and employee relations, and workplace health and wellness.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE :

  • Advance NorQuest’s commitments to inclusion by evolving approaches and processes that promote equity.
  • Understand HR needs to support strong business outcomes through strategic HR practices.
  • Provide guidance on labor relations, including collective agreement interpretation, grievance management, arbitration, and bargaining processes.
  • Support employee experience initiatives, including engagement and safety surveys, and develop action plans based on survey insights.
  • Contribute to the People & Organizational Development Leadership team, driving organizational results and supporting team and individual growth.

WHAT YOU BRING :

  • Undergraduate degree in business or HR-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
  • Management experience leading HR teams.
  • Experience in post-secondary or public organizations is preferred.
  • Experience integrating equity, diversity, and inclusion into HR strategies.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong coaching abilities for resolving complex issues.
  • Ability to balance operational and strategic priorities.
  • Knowledge of legislation, collective agreements, policies, and regulations.
  • Proven leadership in a collaborative, results-oriented environment.

WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?

Experience in:

  • Decision Making : Managing daily HR activities independently, making complex discretionary decisions.
  • Leadership : Delegating responsibilities and leading a team of 8 direct reports, executing HR strategies.
  • Working relationships : Interacting with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Initiative to Act : Leading HR operations with autonomy, escalating only when necessary for strategic alignment.

SALARY : $114,556 - $143,224, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, temporary position for up to 6 months.
