We are seeking aStrategic Communications Advisor to join our team inVICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada.
Are you passionate about PR and media relations? Join our team as a Strategic Communications Advisor, where you'll lead and shape our public affairs and media strategies. Reporting to the Manager, Plan Communications, you'll work closely with executives, senior management, and trustees on high-profile and sensitive issues.
In this role, you'll provide expert counsel on communications strategies, media relations, and issues management. You'll develop and implement proactive communications plans, fostering relationships with stakeholders.
Managing media interactions, identifying emerging issues, and preparing responses will be key aspects of your responsibilities. Additionally, you'll craft speaking notes, presentations, and other communications materials, while overseeing information requests and managing contracted services.

Hybrid Work Model
This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month.
Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.
Responsibilities
Media Relations & Issues Management: Plans and implements media and public affairs strategies, prepares responses to media inquiries, forecasts public issues, and develops strategies to minimize negative impacts. Conducts ongoing media monitoring and trend analysis to stay on top of key issues.
Relationship Management: Builds and maintains strong relationships with media and key stakeholders to support organizational outcomes and reputation management.
Strategic Communications: Develops and executes strategic communications plans, assessing impacts, risks, and stakeholder responses to inform decision-making.
Communications Advisor: Provides expert advice to pension plan trustees, executive directors, and senior staff on communications strategies, develops speaking notes, key messages and presentations, conducts research, and manages communications projects.
Campaign & Project Management: Oversees and manages communications campaigns and projects, measures and evaluates media engagement and media campaign outcomes, plans internal and external programs, coordinates public education processes, and represents the corporation at stakeholder meetings.
Information Analysis & Dissemination: Analyzes complex pension information, translates technical language into plain language, and develops best practice guidelines and standards for quality assurance.
