Job Title: Service Associate

Status: Temporary Part Time and Regular Part Time

Program: Environmental Services

Shifts: 4 and 8 Hour Shifts; Days, Evenings, Nights and Weekends Schedule (Subject to Change)

Location: Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and Port Perry

Wage Schedule: $26.440 - $27.710 per hour

We are currently hiring enthusiastic, skilled, and hardworking Service Associates for regular part-time and temporary part-time positions at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville and Port Perry.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Service Associate (SA) is an integral member of the patient care unit, healthcare team, and environmental services program. The SA works closely with other team members to support service/facility area or patient care unit activities and assist in meeting basic patient care and service/facility needs. Duties include:

  1. Cleaning and making up beds and stretchers;
  2. Maintaining equipment and reporting or requisitioning repairs;
  3. Assisting with ordering, receiving, and distributing supplies;
  4. Replenishing carts and rooms with supplies;
  5. Cleaning and disinfecting floors, walls, ceilings, windows, lights, furniture, vents, washrooms, kitchen, medication room, and portering of patients;
  6. Performing errands to stores, lab, pharmacy, and nutrition;
  7. Emptying garbage, sharps containers, and linen;
  8. Defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, freezers, and ice machines;
  9. Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write English at a level sufficient for the job;
  • Knowledge of universal precautions related to cleaning and handling of equipment, supplies, and specimens;
  • Knowledge of WHMIS;
  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing demands;
  • Physical capability to perform duties, including walking extensively and climbing stairs/ladders;
  • Previous hospital experience as an SA (preferred);
  • Ability to work all shifts;
  • Understanding of and commitment to safety programs and practices;

  • Satisfactory performance record.
Conditions of Employment

Employment terms are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.
