This position is for our York Home, located in Sudbury, ON. Available opportunities include Part-Time; Day/Evening.

What you’ll be doing

1. Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, observing time limits for meal service, and maintaining foods at proper temperatures.
2. Assist Cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruits, and follow basic instructions in preparing simple foods like breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
3. Clear plates and trays, load and operate dishwashers, and clean pots, pans, and utensils as per procedure.
4. Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
5. Adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environment, and infection control.
6. Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
7. Participate in facility meetings as assigned and attend in-service education programs.
8. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What you bring

• Successful completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act requirements. If enrolled, you must complete the program within three (3) years of hire.
• Current Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Previous dietary experience preferred in LTC (Long Term Care) Homes (0-1 years).
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to read, write, and understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to work safely following established safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting.
• Availability for workdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
