General Description of Duties
- Support curriculum delivery and information literacy by assisting patrons with print and electronic resources.
- Maintain physical collections, shelve materials, and ensure shelf order.
- Facilitate book exchanges, literacy initiatives, and provide reading support to groups and classrooms.
- Provide orientation and training to students and staff, and promote library services through web pages and newsletters.
- Manage the library budget, select materials based on Board guidelines, and coordinate with school administration.
- Send overdue notices and develop library collections aligned with school needs and policies.
- Catalog and circulate library materials using automated systems.
- Maintain AV equipment, provide setup, troubleshooting, and inventory management.
- Promote library services and literacy activities within the school community.
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of the Library and Information Technician Diploma.
- One to two years of experience working with children in a library setting.
- Proficiency in MS Office and library management software.
- Understanding of cataloguing and inventory processes.
- Excellent communication skills and sound judgment.
- Ability to plan, multitask, and prioritize work.
Additional Details
- Hourly Rate: $30.86 to $32.48
- Part-time, 17.5 hours/week, approximately 42 weeks/year
- Work schedule determined by the administrator
