Job description

Just HRhas an immediate opening for aPermit to Work (PTW) Leadto join a large-scale industrial project near Kamloops, British Columbia. Our client is a global mining company currently undertaking a major construction and expansion initiative. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all high-risk activities on site are planned, reviewed, and executed safely and in compliance with regulatory and internal safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary coordinator for the site’s Permit to Work system, ensuring safe execution of construction and maintenance activities.
  • Review incoming permit requests to confirm all required documentation, safety assessments, and isolation plans are in place.
  • Lead daily coordination meetings with operations, maintenance, and construction teams to align on job priorities and risk controls.
  • Develop and approve isolation strategies, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and maintain related documentation and registers.
  • Conduct site audits of active permits to verify compliance with safety controls and permit conditions.
  • Facilitate job hazard analyses and risk assessments for critical tasks requiring permits.
  • Ensure proper handovers between crews and shifts, with updated status on work in progress and current isolations.
  • Provide technical guidance to permit technicians and support staff; coach site teams on PTW best practices.
  • Liaise with multiple departments to align on mechanical, process, and electrical hazard controls before permit approval.
  • Monitor job execution to ensure work is being carried out in accordance with the permit’s safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • 5–10 years of experience in Health & Safety, Environmental, or Operations roles within mining, industrial, or large-scale construction environments.
  • Previous experience coordinating or managing Permit to Work systems and isolation planning.
  • Strong understanding of federal and provincial health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Solid communication, coordination, and leadership skills; able to work independently in a fast-paced site environment.
  • Comfortable working in a remote rotational setting (10/4 schedule).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety documentation systems; valid driver’s license required.

Remuneration:

  • Hourly Rate: $75–$80 per hour
  • Contract Term: 12 months
  • Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off rotation
  • Location: On-site near Kamloops, BC
