Job description

The ideal candidate has experience in building and optimizing big data systems and will work closely with our data engineering team and data analysts to ensure consistency of data delivery and utilization across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

1. Work closely with other data and analytics team members to optimize the company’s data systems and pipeline architecture.
2. Design and build the infrastructure for data extraction, preparation, and loading of data from a variety of sources using technology such as SQL and AWS services.
3. Build data and analytics tools that offer deeper insights into the pipeline, enabling critical discoveries related to key performance indicators and customer activity.
4. Continuously seek greater efficiency across all of our company data systems.

Qualifications

1. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
2. At least 1 year of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
3. Knowledge of AWS services.
4. Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
5. Experience working with large, disconnected, and/or unstructured datasets is a plus.
6. Ability to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to project manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
8. Advanced SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, including query authoring and familiarity with databases like AWS Athena.
9. Experience working within Agile Scrum teams.
10. Preferred knowledge or experience with:

• Relational SQL and NoSQL databases
• Data pipeline/workflow management tools
• AWS cloud services such as EC2, Lakeformation, Glue, RDS, and Redshift
• Object-oriented or functional scripting languages like Python
