Job description

Join a team of forward thinking, enthusiastic, results-driven and collaborative professionals. To support our mission we are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Vancouver.

The role will require but not be limited to:

1. Working as part of an experienced and established electrical team to leverage previous project designs, whilst still being adaptable and able to provide innovative designs and thinking when required.
2. Work across a continuous succession of small and large, domestic and international projects as they progress through the project lifecycle from early concept development, detailed design, construction and operations.
3. Preparing conceptual and detailed electrical designs of various types of ore crushing and conveying facilities and associated services.
4. Defining and recommending design methods, specifications, and performance of functional requirements for new projects.
5. Undertaking or supervising the preparation of feasibility studies, surveys and reports, design layouts, bill of quantities and cost estimates. Generating equipment specifications and support the equipment evaluation and procurement activities during project execution.
6. Managing electrical discipline budget and schedule during the execution of projects in all phases of maturity.
7. Carrying-out site inspections and liaising with suppliers, clients, consultants or commissioning engineers. Engineering support to installation, construction and commissioning teams with the occasional deployment as a commissioning resource.
8. Liaising with internal and external clients, other discipline professionals, and stakeholders within the industry to ensure the timely, accurate and cost effective delivery of projects.

What are we looking for?

1. Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical or Controls; P.Eng required).
2. Minerals processing industry experience 8-15 years’ experience in operational, or design engineering capacities.
3. Self-directed with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Extensive PLC experience. Rockwell experience an asset.
5. Extensive SCADA experience, CitectSCADA an asset.
6. Ability to interpret Electrical & Controls drawings & engineering documents (PID’s, SLD’s, Schematics, Sequence & Control Function Diagrams, SAMA Diagrams).
7. Control system network installation and commissioning.
8. Electrical & Control System troubleshooting & fault-finding abilities.
9. Failure analysis skills and root cause analysis experience.
10. Familiarity with short circuit calculation and analysis.
11. Desired skills, knowledge and experience: Experience in project management. Skills in MS Office suite, MS Access, MS project, PLC & SCADA and other engineering tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP and SKM Ground Mat module.
12. Demonstrated working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and National Electrical Code (NEC).

Salary range in BC: $115,000-175,000.
The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
