  • Allowance

This position is eligible for the Pay Market Modifier, valued at 7.7% of the basic annual salary ($87,459 - $106,386), effective April 1, 2024, for the trainer position. The above includes the 7.7% Pay Market Modifier.

Job Summary
Major Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and provide pay specialists with training, resources, and tools for pay and benefits services.
  2. Identify training needs, mentor, and coach pay specialists.
  3. Monitor training progress, review assignments, and follow up to ensure understanding.
  4. Coordinate and administer pay and benefits services, advise employees, and liaise with other federal departments.
  5. Review, verify, and resolve complex pay issues through analysis and recommend solutions.
  6. Stay updated on policy changes and ensure they are incorporated into training.
  7. Prepare and deliver informational sessions on compensation legislation and directives.
  8. Exercise delegation of authority under section 34 of the FAA, ensuring payments are certified properly.
  9. Represent the organization at external working groups for system and process enhancements.
Education
  • Undergraduate degree with three years of experience, or
  • College diploma with four years of experience, or
  • High school diploma with five years of experience.

All educational programs must be from an accredited Canadian institution. Foreign credentials require Canadian equivalency verification at your expense. Higher education may be recognized as experience.

Experience
  • Experience with the Phoenix Pay System.
  • Experience advising employees and managers on pay and benefits issues.
  • Successful completion of pay specialist training with PSPC.

A presentation will be part of the assessment. Reference checks will be conducted. Most work requires presence in the office; remote work options are under consideration.
