Job description

The Manager – CAT Hail/OEM Operations at KhS is responsible for overseeing and managing catastrophe (CAT) hail repair operations, ensuring seamless coordination between Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), insurance companies, and repair teams. This role involves leading large-scale hail damage response efforts, optimizing operational efficiency, and ensuring quality control in hail repair processes for OEM vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Operational Management
  • Lead and manage large-scale hail catastrophe (CAT) response operations for OEM vehicles.
  • Develop and implement efficient repair processes, ensuring quality and adherence to OEM standards.
  • Oversee logistics and deployment of technicians, equipment, and materials for hail damage repairs.
  • Coordinate with insurance adjusters, dealerships, and repair facilities to streamline claims and repair workflows.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Team Leadership & Workforce Management
    • Recruit, train, and manage a team of hail repair specialists, paintless dent repair (PDR) technicians, and support staff.
    • Ensure safety protocols and compliance with industry standards for all field and repair operations.
    • Develop training programs to enhance team skills and stay ahead of evolving hail repair techniques.
  • OEM & Client Relations
    • Serve as the primary liaison between OEMs, insurance providers, and service centers.
    • Negotiate contracts and service agreements with OEMs and suppliers to ensure cost-effective operations.
    • Maintain strong relationships with clients, dealerships, and partners to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Financial & Compliance Oversight
    • Develop budgets and cost estimates for CAT hail repair projects, ensuring financial efficiency.
    • Implement cost-control measures to maximize profitability while maintaining service quality.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding hail damage repair and insurance claims.
  • Technology & Process Improvement
    • Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to assess performance and improve operational strategies.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce repair turnaround times.
  • Account Management
    • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with KhS current customers (QBR).
    • Develop and manage strong relationships with top customers within the division in partnership with Operations.
    • Collaborate with Dealer Tire sales partners.
    • Proactively identify opportunities and provide solutions that address customer needs.
  • Qualifications & Skills:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Automotive Technology, or a related field (preferred).
    • 7+ years of experience in catastrophe hail repair operations, automotive repair management, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of OEM repair standards, insurance claims processes, and hail damage assessment.
    • Proven leadership experience in managing large teams in fast-paced environments.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage relationships with OEMs, insurers, and repair teams.
    • Ability to analyze data, create reports, and implement operational improvements.
    • Proficiency in industry-related software and technology, including estimating software (CCC, Audatex, Mitchell).
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially in high-pressure situations.

    • Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen.
    • Ability to work in office and manufacturing environments as needed.
    • Occasional travel may be required up to 50%.
    • This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to sit for extended periods. The employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, bend, or lift items weighing up to [weight, e.g., 10 pounds].
