Director, Insurance & Wealth Preservation Strategies
As a Director, Insurance & Wealth Preservation Strategies in Desjardins Financial Security Independent Network, you will perform the following:
- Increase insurance business production overall for all of DFSIN West.
- Increase annual submitted & settled premium amounts for DFSIN West, whether larger cases, high volumes of cases, or a combination of both.
- Build trust & rapport with advisors to gain insight into their businesses and identify opportunities worth pursuing.
- Provide updates and 'pitches' on advanced concepts and case studies to get advisors thinking about opportunities.
Our shared vision is:
To consistently be the #1 FC in DFSIN in overall settled premiums (DFS and Brokerage),
Top 3 in DFS settled Premiums in DFSIN (DFS only),
and Top 3 in settled premiums across Canada, including SFL (DFS & Brokerage).
- Prepare Financial Plans for Advisors (minimum case size to be determined) using Financial Planning Software of your preference (Advisor does not dictate which software the Director uses).
- This will be done by you initially. The longer-term goal is to hire a financial planner - likely reporting to you.
- This will also serve a secondary purpose, which is to help uncover (and educate in uncovering) insurance opportunities.
- Develop a training program to educate and onboard new advisors to the FC on Insurance concepts.
- Program to cover basic through advanced training.
- Also train on professionalism / compliance, sales process. (Not paperwork necessarily - that will be handled by the Office Manager (Lisa)).
- Be an inspirational, contributing role model representing the intended direction of the FC under the guidance of the Executive Director.
More specifically, you will be responsible to:
- Be present in the office and liaise with advisors to build trust and rapport with them.
- Present & 'pitch' on insurance concepts and case studies to inspire advisors to think and look for insurance opportunities.
- Analyze cases brought to you for insurance opportunities with DFS or Brokerage Carriers.
- Build rapport with representatives of DFS and Brokerage Carriers.
- Support advisors with tailored solutions.
- Meet with both Advisors and their clients as needed.
- Ongoing support model for insurance clients to be determined.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Track, monitor, and analyze insurance sales and trends for the FC.
- LLQP required.
- CFP & CLU should be prioritized.
- Mutual Fund licence would be an asset.
- Maintain required CE credits.
- This position must follow all rules and regulations set out by our regulatory bodies as directed by the BM / Compliance Officer (Dave Rupert).
- This position must hold the appropriate licenses and E&O insurance to conduct insurance business in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC.
o This position should prepare to be licensed to conduct insurance business across all Canadian provinces in the future.
Management & Operating Structure
- This position reports to the Executive Director.
- This position will work closely alongside the Office Manager and Compliance / BM to ensure proper and efficient procedures and processes are at the forefront.
- This position will involve travel at times for business meetings and conferences. Any necessary expenses including flights, accommodations, and meals to be covered. Please discuss spending limits with the Executive Director.
- This position will be assigned an office in the Calgary FC. Office space in other offices will be accommodated as best as possible based on needs for each business trip.
- This position is intended to be hybrid with a focus on being in the office at least 80% of the time. Physical presence in the office is essential to building rapport with advisors. Meetings can be conducted in person, over the phone, or via Microsoft Teams.
