The PSW/HCA/CCA provides direct personal support and care to patients to fulfill their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual needs in accordance with policies, procedures, and work routines. Responsibilities include assisting with ambulation, feeding, bathing, and grooming.

Common Requirements for Both Union and Non-Union Jobs

• Completed a PSW Program or HCA/CCA certification meeting the appropriate standards for the position.
• Experience in long-term care or community home care settings, with exposure to dementia and palliative care preferred.
• Knowledge of care planning systems and documentation.
• Ability to communicate positively with staff, residents/patients, and families.
• Ability to provide care in accordance with applicable legislation, work routines, and nursing care plans. Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English verbal and written instructions.
• Experience working independently in community home care is an asset.
