has an opening for a

DISTRIBUTION ENGINEER

Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc is an electrical utility committed to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable service to our customers. Our parent company, Greater Sudbury Utilities Inc., is a diversified, community-owned corporation focused on service excellence.

We are currently seeking a Distribution Engineer to join our team. This is a non-union position based in Sudbury, Ontario.

Reporting to the Manager of Engineering, you will play a critical role in the development and maintenance of distribution design and construction standards, as well as distribution equipment specifications.

Other responsibilities will include:

  1. Distribution system short-term and long-term growth and betterment planning.
  2. Assist in load flow and loss optimization analysis, fault level studies, and fuse/relay coordination.
  3. Prepare reports to regulatory bodies such as the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) on matters pertaining to distribution system reliability, maintenance, and safety compliance.
  4. Support the development of planning, operating, maintenance, and capital expenditure budgets for the distribution system.

The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications:

  • A four-year University degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience deemed acceptable by Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • At least five years of experience working with utility distribution systems.
  • A valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence.
