Job description

Stage Manager (Band Level 8)

School of Fine Arts, Grenfell Campus

(Contractual Position to April 10, 2026)

The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff interested in a secondment, subject to departmental approval.

Duties

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Stage Manager will be responsible for professional stage management work at Grenfell Theatre, Memorial University. Responsibilities include:

  1. Scheduling, coordinating, and supervising departmental theatre productions.
  2. Stage managing productions and supervising/mentoring student stage managers.
  3. Designing and delivering stage management curriculum to students in the Technical Theatre Production program.
  4. Devising and demonstrating professional stage management protocols and techniques.
  5. Coordinating, scheduling, and organizing productions and rehearsals.
  6. Maintaining the production prompt script and communication call board.
  7. Overseeing backstage activities.
  8. Performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Experience of 3-5 years in professional stage management, preferably with students in a theatre training program. A degree or diploma from an accredited theatre training institution is required, or an equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of current techniques and trends in stage management is essential.

Salary

$65,079 - $76,340 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
