Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Field Services Technician/Technologist in Saskatoon. Reporting to a Supervisor, Technical Field Services, the successful candidate will be accountable to perform Medium Voltage Energy Isolation and Maintenance; ultimately creating superior client experiences through commissioning, repair, and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment.

Accountabilities

  1. Service Scope
  2. Equipment upgrades as well as maintenance, testing, and commissioning services for commercial, industrial, and utility
  3. Client Development
  4. Develop client relationships through client interface on site
  5. Identify service opportunities for clients and communicate them to Managers
  6. Participate in industry events
  7. Job Preparation & Planning
  8. Ensure all equipment and materials are available for projects
  9. Job Execution
  10. On site, hands-on work, as required
  11. Provide project status updates to Manager
  12. Maintain effective communication with internal and external groups regarding milestone achievements, costs, opportunities, etc.
  13. Escalate awareness of issues and concerns on projects within a timely manner to Manager
  14. Develop site strategy and adjust timelines
  15. Ensure leadership safety excellence is demonstrated onsite
  16. Responsible for site quality and document reviews
  17. Follow-up on deficiency work
  18. Ensure work is completed as per required scope
  19. Ensure documentation is completed and compiled
  20. Meet and review project execution with Manager
  21. Reporting
  22. Ensure completion and submission of all documents
  23. Complete technical reviews and generate reports
  24. Invoicing
  25. Support invoicing to ensure inclusion of applicable extras for work performed
  26. Job Follow-up
  27. Ensure follow-up to clients is completed as required
  28. Provide feedback to Managers on project execution and employee performance onsite
  29. Leadership
  30. Integrate junior employees into projects in a safe manner
  31. Lead, mentor, and develop employees
  32. Safety
  33. Ensure all safety policies are adhered to at all times
  34. Participate in safety meetings
  35. Required Skills and Qualifications
  36. 3+ years experience as an Electrical Technologist / Field Technician / Power System Electrician / Electrical Engineer
  37. Hands-on field experience commissioning, testing, or maintaining power delivery equipment, including breakers, switchgear, relays, transformers.
  38. Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial, and utility environments
  39. Trade or tech school certification required
  40. Electrical Engineering degree, PSE (Power Systems Electrician) or CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) and NETA certification is an asset
  41. Proven experience leading engaged and productive project teams
  42. Must have a valid driver’s license
  43. Ability to self-manage with proven initiative and client focus
  44. Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  45. Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  46. Must be able to work in a dynamic work environment
  47. Excellent time management skills with attention to detail
  48. The ability to work flexible shifts, which include weekends, evenings, and statutory holidays
  49. Ability to travel
  50. Team player with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  51. A positive, “can-do” attitude
