Job description

Reporting to the office manager, the Transportation Driver will be responsible for providing ground transportation of Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre clients and escorts from within Southern Treaty 3 catchment. The Driver will provide general outreach for clients as well as perform routine maintenance and upkeep of the passenger vans.

The salary for this position ranges from $22.60 - $26.58 per hour.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid G or F class Driving license
  • The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including shift work that might include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Must possess a minimum of five years of driving experience, from having a valid and unrestricted full driving license
  • Any further driving training such as Defensive Driving, Driving with Dangerous Goods, would be an asset
  • Experience working in a transportation environment would be an asset but full training will be provided
  • Experience in frontline Customer Service working in a fast-paced environment
  • Written and oral communication skills acceptable to the employer that meet the requirements of the role of Transportation Driver
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) — Current certification in the proper handling, transportation, offering or importing of goods labelled as Dangerous by the government.
  • Ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially.
  • Clean Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, Driver’s Abstract and proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Ability to speak Ojibway and prior experience in working with Aboriginal people, a definite asset.
  • Experience and understanding of local Indigenous communities and culture within the Southern Region of Treaty #3.
