THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Aquatic Biologists to join a well-established team of environmental professionals!

Triton is growing, and this role can be based out of any current Triton office location such as Vancouver BC, Kamloops, Vernon BC, Prince George BC, Terrace BC, Prince Rupert BC, Kitimat BC, Calgary AB, Edmonton AB, Regina SK, Saskatoon SK, and Regina SK.

You will have the chance to be part of exciting ongoing projects that are integral to building the local and provincial community. This position will appeal to anyone passionate about aquatic biology and who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced consulting environment. You will participate in world-class projects that balance environmental stewardship with responsible resource development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting aquatic field programs while providing technical support to project managers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing technical leadership on the aquatic biology components of projects within a team environment.
  2. Managing and leading aquatic programs.
  3. Planning and executing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work and delivering quality reports on schedule.
  4. Liaising with client representatives and contractors.
  5. Providing quality and independent reviews for projects.
  6. Advising clients on environmental Best Management Practices.
  7. Working collaboratively within Triton's corporate culture.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, environmental science, or related field.
  • Technical knowledge in aquatics and fisheries biology.
  • Professional biologist designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Federal Fisheries Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent technical writing, reporting, communication, team leadership, and project management skills.
  • Relevant aquatic field work experience is an asset.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and/or inspection.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style.
  • Superior problem-solving skills with creative thinking abilities.

SCHEDULE

This is an office-based role with some minimal site travel as needed. A hybrid work schedule (remote and in-office) is preferred, with potential flexibility for more remote work.

COMPENSATION

Salary depends on experience, qualifications, and location, with a range approximately between $45 and $65 per hour.
