Job description

We are seeking a Relief Part Time Health Information Processing Clerk at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon, BC.

Days of work: Rotating, Days

Shift times: 08:00 to 16:00

This is a relief position until the return of the incumbent on June 22, 2026.

What will you work on?
Duties

This position performs clerical duties related to the preparation, maintenance, and storage of patient information in paper and electronic formats. Responsibilities include secretarial duties for Managers and Physicians, as well as quantitative analysis, such as:

  • Conducting quantitative analysis to ensure accuracy of patient records
  • Monitoring and maintaining an electronic tracking system for deficient patient charts
  • Typing technical and non-technical material for Managers and Physicians, including memos, correspondence, medical reports, and meeting notes
  • Retrieving, organizing, and filing patient records, reports, and other documents
  • Answering inquiries regarding patient information in accordance with legislative statutes, IHA policies, and guidelines for Release of Information
  • Performing data entry for clinical registries and databases
  • Assisting physicians in completing patient documentation through quantitative analysis
  • Reception duties including answering phones, transferring calls, taking messages, greeting visitors, and sorting mail
What should your application include?
  • A 5-minute typing test (55+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months
  • Proof of completion of a Medical Terminology Course
  • Your Resume indicating two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position, including on-call and casual work preferences
