Reporting to the Manager- Damage Prevention (DP), this role involves managing and supporting damage prevention activities to ensure the safety and integrity of underground, and aerial, infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to processes improvements, hosting meetings with internal and external customers, and for all locate and damage prevention activities.
The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to asses risk, be a team player, experienced at multi-tasking and analytical thinking, and able to work under tight timelines. The candidate must be able to: demonstrate professionalism and objectivity under all circumstances, be capable of taking initiative, function in an independent manner as well as within a team, create and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external partners.

** What you’ll do:
Monitor locate tickets, emergency tickets, construction activities near high-risk infrastructure, and locate escalations.
Provide live support for the Locate Desk and Locate Service Providers (LSPs).
Manage locate escalations, arrange site visits, and oversee tracer wire installations.
Respond to locate inquiries and ensure One-Call center compliance via phone and email.
Provide technical support to LSPs and verify mapping accuracy.
Coordinate mapping updates for One-Call centers and engage internal teams as necessary
Liaise with One-Call centers across Canada and the U.S., offering support when needed.
Prepare detailed monthly reports for statistical analysis and financial tracking
Report map discrepancies and follow up to ensure corrective action is taken.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with utility owners and municipalities.
Assist in damage prevention efforts and promote awareness through education.
Lead special projects assigned by management.
Represent Rogers Damage Prevention on committees and focus groups as required
Identify and report trends related to damage, liability, or deficiencies in control measures.
Build a network of internal and external contacts, including professionals from utilities, locate service providers, and One-Call centers to strengthen the damage prevention program.
Maintain accurate records of ticket processing, addressing incidents, non-compliance issues, and non-conformance items related to damage prevention.
What you bring:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Telecommunications and/or Damage Prevention industries (both are considered assests)
Strong understanding of HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) networks, telecom construction standards, locate processes, relevant legislation, and One-Call systems/procedures.
Experience with locate management software, clearance activities, and field locate operations.
Ability to effectively manage high-volume environments, prioritizing tasks while responding to customer and business needs.
Demonstrated ability to make independent, sound decisions under tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to positively engage with contractors, facilitate meetings, and deliver public presentations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Ability to quickly acquire skills with internal IT applications and systems used by the Damage Prevention Unit.
Flexibility to work overtime or variable shifts, including evenings and weekends, when required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to develop and deliver clear, concise reports
Strong skills in updating and disseminating processes and procedures accurately and effectively
Knowledge of process improvement and automation (considered an asset).
Experience with reporting software such as SQL or Power BI (considered an asset).
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, as occasional travel within Alberta and other provinces may be required.
Criminal and credit checks will be completed for the successful candidate.
