The Department of Computer Science and Mathematics in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University invites applications for a 10-month Limited Term Faculty Appointment. Computer Science faculty members at Nipissing University are committed to excellence in teaching and research. They earn funding from agencies like the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), publish in top scientific journals and initiate advanced undergraduate research. The General Computer Science Lab, Robotics Lab, Collaborative Systems lab, and interdisciplinary computational biomedical and environmental labs enhance students’ research and provide opportunities for them to pursue studies tailored to their individual interests. The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Completed or be near to completion of a PhD in Computer Science is preferred, a PhD in a closely related discipline will be considered.
- Research in Computer Science or Data Science, with preference given to those with an intersection in areas such as the Social Determinants of Health, Education, or Sustainable Planning.
- Demonstrated excellence or show promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching, specifically in introductory level courses.
The successful candidate should be prepared to teach a range of courses and laboratories at the undergraduate level including:
- COSC 1557: Introduction to Computer Science
- COSC 1757: Digital Systems
- COSC 2106: Machine Structures
- COSC 3307: 3D Computer Graphics
- COSC 3406: Advanced Game Development
- DATA 1006: Introduction to Data Science
- DATA 1007: Programming for Data Science
- DATA 3016: Tools and Technologies in Data
The successful candidate may be invited to participate in curriculum revision and development and collaboration with the other science departments/programs.
The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Full-time Academic Staff Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement. The annual salary for this 10-month Assistant Professor position will be prorated from the full-time salary range of $85,372 to $130,606 CAD.
