Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner is licensed to work in Canada and provides healthcare advice, education, and support to patients across provinces that permit cross-provincial care. As a point of contact, you will offer convenient and timely services, ranging from minor acute care treatments to health coaching for various conditions. You will triage patient requests, assess needs, and provide clinical recommendations and coaching to support symptom resolution or health improvement. Patients can contact a registered nurse via phone, email, text, or videoconference. You will refer patients to healthcare facilities and community resources as needed. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, pharmacists, and dieticians, you will ensure a meaningful patient experience while developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive care plans.

What you will do:

  • Possess strong clinical expertise across a range of health conditions
  • Show deep compassion and empathy to promote healthy lifestyles
  • Utilize nursing processes, including critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making; also teach, counsel, and advocate
  • Participate in service and program development for the telemedicine program, liaising with healthcare providers and patients, and advocating for the program
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal privacy legislation, including the Mental Health Act

What you will need:

  • Availability includes days, occasional evenings (8 am – 8 pm EST), and weekends; on-call shifts may be required
  • At least 2 years of direct clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • Current unrestricted nursing license in the province of practice
  • Knowledge of developmental stages, behavioral sciences, pathophysiology, psychopathy, epidemiology, and evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics for prescribing and treatment evaluation
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Organized and efficient approach to telemedicine
  • Excellent assessment, communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of SDM, policies, legal considerations, and ethics
  • Excellent English communication skills; bilingual French/English preferred where needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and web-based applications (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Ability to remain objective, be a team player, and adapt to change
  • Commitment to quality, client-centered service
