Job Description

Based in the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE), under the general supervision of the HSE Manager and Manufacturing Director, this role coordinates occupational safety programs across divisions and departments. Responsibilities include planning, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating safety programs.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist with the implementation of environment, safety, and health programs.
  • Conduct safety meetings and audits regularly.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Conduct safety orientations for new employees and contractors.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and lead Emergency Response Team activities, including CPR/First Aid & AED training.
  • Coordinate emergency evacuation and weather preparedness procedures.
  • Investigate incidents, compile reports, and ensure timely reporting.
  • Generate monthly safety reports and interface with employees and leadership.
  • Conduct safety training, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor adherence to safety policies among employees and subcontractors.
  • Research and organize safety training programs on fall protection, PPE, lockout/tag-out, confined space, etc.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, ensuring compliance with regulations and staying updated on legal changes.
  • Participate in safety inspections, record-keeping, and emergency response planning.
  • Promote a safety culture, report hazards, and support investigations.

  • Strong computer skills, familiar with MS Office.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with management systems like OHSAS 18001 or 45001 is desirable.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • At least 2 years of HSE experience.
  • Registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics (Advanced or Primary care paramedic, or Emergency medical responder).
  • Preference for NCSO designation.
Working Conditions
  • Work in hot temperatures and industrial environments.
  • Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.
Physical Requirements

Must maintain body balance, perform physical activities including bending, lifting up to 20 lbs, and repetitive motions.
