Job Description:

Youth Group

1. Plan and lead youth group (Gr. 7-12) gatherings three times each month during the school year.
2. Build and train a team of volunteers for youth ministry from the congregation.
3. Plan, oversee, and lead an annual youth retreat.
4. Reach out to youth of the church not actively engaged in youth programs.
5. Plan and oversee youth involvement in local mercy and outreach ministries.
6. Meet with youth for individual discipleship, counselling (as needed), and prayer.

Worship

1. Prepare and preach sermons, on average, three times each month (once in morning worship and once or twice in evening worship).
2. Lead the liturgy in Sunday morning worship once a month.
3. Lead the liturgy in Sunday evening worship once a month.
4. Offer congregational prayer in morning worship on occasion.
5. Administer the Lord’s Supper once each month (when ordained).
6. As needed, assist with baptisms, weddings, funerals (when ordained).

Other Responsibilities

1. Meet weekly with pastor for planning and prayer.
2. Attend monthly Session meetings.
3. Attend Presbytery meetings.
4. Attend General Assembly at least once every three years.
5. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Pastor or Session.
6. Take care of own spiritual well-being: preach the Gospel to self; stay in the Word; be regular in confession, repentance, forgiveness, and prayer; take a weekly day of rest and use vacation time; care for own family well.

Position Qualifications:

1. A personal commitment to Jesus Christ, trusting him as he is offered in the Gospel.
2. A life characterised by love, repentance, forgiveness, and patience.
3. A desire to see young people know and trust the Lord Jesus.
4. A desire to disciple young people in their faith.
5. Some experience in youth ministries preferred.
6. Ordained or eligible for ordination in the Presbyterian Church in America.

Crestwood Presbyterian Church (PCA) is a thriving and growing congregation of about 240 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. After sending out its Associate Pastor with a core group to plant a new congregation on Edmonton's south side last Fall, Crestwood is seeking a new Assistant Pastor to oversee its youth program and to gain experience in preaching, teaching, and leading liturgy in corporate worship. Crestwood's senior pastor is a graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary (MDiv '10). Crestwood is a member congregation of the PCA's Canada West Presbytery.
