We’re a cross-functional team focused on Design, Research, Writing, Ops, and Front-end Development, always looking for opportunities to build understanding and empathy for our users. We work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Marketing to design, build, and ship impactful and inclusive experiences.
About The Role
As a staff product designer, you’ll help mature our contractor products, driving foundational shifts to our platform and customer experiences. This is a unique opportunity to implement major experience changes to critical workflows. You will lead the entire product development process from long-term vision setting to launching and iterating on features.

Contractors are vital to our economy, offering flexibility and independence, and helping small businesses scale. Our Contractors team assists SMBs in hiring, managing, and paying contractors domestically and internationally, while also supporting contractors in managing engagements and growing their own businesses.

Gusto offers competitive compensation, emphasizing equity ownership. Our salary ranges are $139,000–$199,000/year in Denver and most remote locations, and $179,000–$221,000/year in Seattle, San Francisco, and New York. Final offers depend on experience and may vary.
Our offices are in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City, with expectations for in-office work 2-3 days per week. Remote work requires a reliable internet connection.
