Our client is seeking an Intermediate Estimator to join their growing team and contribute to the success of custom projects.
This role is ideal for a highly organized professional with experience coordinating with trades, managing purchase orders (POs), and collaborating closely with designers and project managers. Key responsibilities include monitoring budgets, tracking price changes, and making necessary adjustments to ensure financial goals, quality standards, and timelines are achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation and Budget Preparation
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for custom home projects, including materials, labor, and subcontractor services.
- Develop comprehensive project budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project scope.
- Blueprint Analysis and Quantity Takeoffs
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to perform quantity takeoffs and determine project requirements.
- Identify potential design and cost-saving opportunities during the estimation process.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination
- Source and obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring cost efficiency and quality standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to support accurate pricing and project timelines.
- Risk Assessment and Problem-Solving
- Analyze potential risks and challenges related to project estimates, timelines, and resource availability.
- Propose solutions to address unforeseen issues and ensure project profitability.
- Collaboration and Reporting
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and clients to ensure alignment on budgets and project requirements.
- Provide clear and concise reporting on estimates, adjustments, and cost updates to internal teams and stakeholders.
Education:
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field is an asset.
- Certification in estimating or construction (e.g., Gold Seal Certification) is an asset.
- Familiarity with Alberta Building Code and construction standards.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in estimating for custom home builds or similar construction projects.
- Proven experience coordinating with trades, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Strong background in managing purchase orders (POs) and construction budgets.
- Familiarity with residential construction materials, methods, and costs.
- Experience using construction management software (Builder Trends Platform experience is a strong asset).
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities for collaborating with project stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimating and budgeting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Adaptable, resourceful, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Base Salary: $80,000 per year
Work Hours:
- 40 hours per week
- 9AM – 5PM

- This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
