About the Role
The Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team is looking for a student to work closely with the team for the Summer term. The student will participate in the preparation of financial statement note disclosures under both IFRS and US GAAP and assist in preparing financial information for Canadian and US Government Reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare quarterly and annual audited financial statements.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to generate reports for lenders and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Coordinate the annual external audit and internal controls over financial reporting processes.
Lender Relations
- Build relationships with lenders and partners.
- Serve as the primary contact for inquiries and requests.
- Monitor and communicate financial performance metrics.
- Assist Capital Markets teams with discussions and negotiations.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Review financing and partnership agreements for reporting obligations.
- Monitor compliance with agreements to mitigate risks.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
Process Improvement
- Evaluate and enhance financial reporting processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation to optimize workflows.
- Proactively address challenges in financial reporting.
Support Functions
- Provide ad hoc support to other departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for alignment in reporting efforts.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program.
- Completed first year university studies in Commerce/Business Administration (preferably 3rd or 4th year with a concentration in Accounting).
- Financial/Accounting knowledge and familiarity with IFRS.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to adapt quickly and manage changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of consolidation systems like Cognos Controller and OneStream is an asset.
- Interest in pursuing a professional accounting designation is an asset.
