What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the SVP, National Office, Personal Banking & Imperial Service, the Senior Director, National Office Communications will focus on several key areas. This individual will provide thought leadership and expertise in frontline communications, ensuring the effective delivery of all frontline communications to team members in Personal Banking & Imperial Service. They will work collaboratively with leaders in these areas to drive awareness of our value proposition, including creating understanding of the advice and support offered to clients at all service levels.

Additionally, the Senior Director will collaborate with teams such as Mass Market and Mass Affluent Client Strategies, eCRM Enablement, CIBC Asset Management, Digital, Marketing, and Product Teams to ensure strategic alignment. They will provide content and thought leadership, enhancing advisor efficiency and the client experience through various methods, including social media programs to increase client acquisition.

Furthermore, this role involves driving growth by supporting business development activities, including events and experiences, and leveraging digital channels to offer insights, tips, and offers.

We offer a flexible hybrid work environment, allowing 1-3 days per week on-site with other days remote.

How you’ll succeed
  • Internal Communications: Develop and maintain internal communication strategies aligned with business objectives, supporting key initiatives with writing, editing, logistics, research, and presentation development. Lead frontline communications supporting incident response processes, balancing stakeholder input and urgent timelines.
  • Project Communications: Create communication strategies for specific projects impacting various banking segments, collaborating across stakeholders to deliver complex messages and manage reputational risks.
  • Content Strategy: Elevate the value proposition through social and digital campaigns, client stories, SEO, and content partnerships. Evolve the advisor marketing site to support sales and outreach, and develop a scalable content strategy to position CIBC as the bank of choice for mass affluent Canadians.
  • Advice & Sales Enablement: Develop messaging and content for initiatives like the 120 Day Focus Period, supporting frontline sales and operational effectiveness resources.
  • Digital Activation: Collaborate with digital teams to enhance the client experience on CIBC.com, increasing brand exposure through targeted lead generation tactics.
  • Business Development: Lead thought leadership initiatives, organize events, and create content libraries to deepen client relationships and facilitate advisor engagement.
  • People Management: Provide leadership, set work priorities, foster development, manage performance, and ensure a positive, compliant work environment aligned with CIBC’s mission and values.
Who you are
  • University degree in Communications or equivalent experience.
  • Expert knowledge of communications principles, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement business development strategies.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, social media, and email marketing.
  • Ability to develop and execute digital activation strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Strong influencing, negotiating, change management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of financial services practices and principles.
  • Ability to anticipate needs of senior management and stay abreast of industry trends.
