NOTICE OF VACANCY

POSITION: PHARMACY TECHNICIAN I

(Shifts: 8-hours, Days, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)

Primary Site: Stratford

Temporary Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs duties, as required, in conjunction with the pharmacists and pharmacy leadership, for the efficient operation of the pharmacy department. Travel among sites and being part of an on-call rotation is required on a regularly scheduled basis.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Regional Pharmacy & Chemotherapy

DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible

SALARY: $35.45 to $37.61 per hour

Qualifications

Education:

  • Registered with Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Diploma from a recognized College
  • Please note: Pharmacy Support I (Technicians) may be hired post-graduate but pre-licensure in specific circumstances.
Abilities

  • Organized and self-directed, including the ability to multitask
  • Works well as a team member and with other health care professionals
  • Able to work independently, with initiative and within structured guidelines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate, including the Meditech System
  • Well-developed pharmaceutical calculation skills and knowledge of trade/generic drug names
  • Experienced aseptic technique and handling of chemotherapeutic agents
  • Experienced in drug order entry
  • Knowledgeable of drug distribution systems
  • Familiar with narcotic and controlled drug legislation and its application to the hospital setting
  • Experienced with drug purchasing and inventory control
  • Ability to travel among sites as required
  • Ability to participate in a regular on-call rotation as required
  • Ability to keep up-to-date with technological advances
  • In possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel among sites.
