Position Overview

Under the general direction of XXXX, as part of the multidisciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP):

  • Provides autonomous clinical care by applying advanced nursing and medical theory, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and performing minor invasive procedures.
  • Contributes to the advancement of nursing knowledge and practice, integrating medical and nursing theories into clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates competence in health promotion, illness prevention, complex care planning, implementation, evaluation, and teaching.
  • Engages in problem-solving with staff and patients, and collaborates effectively with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.
Experience
  • Experience requirements to be determined; relevant clinical experience considered an asset.
Education
  • Masters of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Stream or equivalent, as approved by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Active registration on the RN Extended Practice (EP) Register of the CRNM.
  • Authority to provide extended practice nursing care if competent and within scope.
  • Participation in professional associations preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Effective communication skills, proficiency with computers and healthcare technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership, adaptability, and critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, legislation, and advanced nursing practices.
