What Will You Do
Reporting to the Manager, Emergency Preparedness, the Coordinator, Emergency Preparedness is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and security of airport operations. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, conducting training and drills, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The coordinator will also manage emergency communication systems and provide support during actual emergencies.

What Are Some Of The Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of the Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Participate in planning sessions and reviews of the current Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Develop gap analysis of the current Emergency Preparedness Program against future desired state.
- Develop relationships and collaborate with Authority Crew, contractors, and stakeholders to identify needs and trends related to the Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Observe, solicit, and receive feedback from internal and external stakeholders, to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and advancement of the Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Assist with the implementation and enhancements of the Emergency Preparedness Program as a result of a procedural or regulatory change.
- Ensure appropriate change management is leveraged throughout the Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Research, analyze and implement best practices and regulatory requirements with regards to Emergency Preparedness to support The Authority.
- Coordinate the development of full-scale and table-top exercises.
- Coordinate logistics required for exercises with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in exercises and debriefs.
- Review, update policies and procedures to develop training content for The Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Collaborate with internal managers and contract managers to ensure that required training is delivered to all Crew to align with Authority expectations.
- Deliver and/or coordinate the delivery as it pertains to Emergency Response including internal teams, contractors, and the airport community.
- Create surveys to assess efficacy of training and exercises.
- Create documentation for new processes and assess and review current documentation.
What Do You Need To Bring
- The ability to gain and maintain a RAIC (RAIC Program and Application Information)
- 3+ experience in emergency and/or disaster management, preferably in an airport or aviation context.
- Post-secondary education in Emergency and/or Disaster Management, Business Continuity, Environmental Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
- Practical experience in emergency management, particularly in an airport or aviation context, is preferred.
- Previous experience developing and delivering adult training courses and conducting emergency exercises.
- Experience in preparing schedules, memos, and briefing notes.
- Experience in planning and executing emergency exercises.
- Strong knowledge of emergency management principles and practices.
- Familiar with adult learning techniques and a variety of training methods, including designing classroom, online and blended learning courses.
- Flexibility and ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external partners and stakeholders while demonstrating empathy and patience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability/flexibility.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team to achieve team’s overall objectives.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to deal with multiple projects simultaneously and influence others in meeting deadlines.
- Results driven with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read floor plans and maps and interpret written procedures and other operational documentation.
WHAT OPTIONAL ELEMENTS SUPPORT YOUR APPLICATION (all Are Assets)
- Bilingual in English or French.
- Holding an Exercise Design Certificate would be considered an asset.
- Relevant certifications in emergency management, such as Incident Command System (ICS) certifications are preferred.
