Based in the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE), the Production Worker reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Fabrication department. Under the guidance of the Fab Machine Operator, the Production Worker utilizes various skills and tools to produce precision parts and assemble Powell Canada products.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist with daily and weekly preventative maintenance of metalworking machinery.
  2. Mask and tape parts in the Powder Coating and Copper Dip departments.
  3. Move parts between manufacturing operations according to routing.
  4. Load and unload steel or other products from trucks (indoor/outdoor).
  5. Support shop and yard organization.
  6. Assist machine operators with various tasks.
  7. Remove finished parts from sheet metal skeletons.
  8. Deburr, grind, or finish metal parts using air/electric grinders or sanders.
  9. Sort and stack parts by part and job number.
  10. Assemble kits of parts for welding.
  11. Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and cranes.
  12. Use general hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.
  13. Perform labor tasks like painting, grinding, sanding, or cleaning as directed.
  14. Promote safety and attend safety meetings.
  15. Follow standard work instructions to ensure quality and identify potential risks.
  16. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  17. Perform other duties as required.
Core Competencies
  • Ability to read tape measures (including conversions and metric/imperial).
  • Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable.
  • Adhere to manufacturing policies and ISO requirements.
  • Work effectively within a team and across departments.
  • Basic command of English, both written and verbal.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of metal fabrication shop experience is an asset.
  • Safety certifications are an asset.
Working Conditions
  • Work with hot temperatures.
  • Safety-sensitive environment with occasional outdoor activities.
  • Wear PPE at all times and respirators when required.
  • Work at heights up to 30 feet using lift equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Maintain body balance and agility.
  • Repetitive bending, standing, walking, climbing stairs.
  • Use upper extremities to exert force up to 50 lbs.
  • Use hand tools for extended periods.
