This is a union position located at our Sechelt site.

Starting Wage: $31.57 per hour.

Shift: Tuesday – Friday 7:30am – 6:00pm

I. Job Summary

Safely operates a heavy-duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes.

II. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  1. Operates vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, provincial, and federal requirements and company expectations for the fleet; maintains a clean and safe vehicle.
  2. Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report); notes all issues on DVIR form for corrective review/repair.
  3. Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls to Route Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.
  4. Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Route Manager.
  5. Works closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problematic or unsafe accounts.
  6. Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
  7. Notifies the Route Manager about any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  8. Notifies Dispatch or Route Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, potential missed pick-ups, or problems that arise on the route.
  9. Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.
  10. Ensures all containers are fully dumped and the customer’s location is left clean and free of debris.
  11. Completes and submits customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
  12. Positions containers on the customer’s property properly, ensuring lids are replaced, containers are upright, and do not block driveways or traffic.
  13. Follows route assignments throughout the day and completes all documentation at the end of the route.
III. Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory duties.

IV. Qualifications

  • Education: None required.
  • Experience: No prior work experience required.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements:
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada with a valid SIN (social insurance number).
  • Hold a current DZ or Class 3 license or higher.
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check, including previous employment verification and motor vehicle record review.
  • Acceptable driving record required.

The expected base pay range for this position across Canada is $31.57. This range is a good faith estimate and may vary based on experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and location.
